VTT’s implementation of the International Data Spaces connector, the DSILC or Data Space Innovation Lab Connector, is currently being evaluated by the independent third-party IDS evaluation facility SQS. Our goal with the certification process is to improve our knowledge of International Data Spaces. We also aim to strengthen our position as the IDS expert organization here in Finland. Once we are familiar with the certification process in detail and have hands-on experience with it, we will be even better equipped to inform and support our partner organizations interested in IDS, data economy and data sharing.
The DSIL connector is based on the reference implementation software, the Dataspace Connector, that was originally developed by Fraunhofer ISST. However, it enhances the Dataspace Connector with two additional features: support for user and role-based access management and compatibility with the widely used OPC UA machine-to-machine communication protocol. Both enhancements are based on our experiences working with companies especially in the Finnish manufacturing sector and on what we’ve learned of their needs for sovereign data sharing.
